Celebration of Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Tolstoy Farm

Tolstoy Farm was the first Ashram initiated by Gandhiji during his stay in South Africa movement. Established in 1910, it served as the headquarter of the campaign of Satyagraha against discrimination against Indians in Transvaal Province. A special function to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was organized in collaboration with CGI Johannesburg and Mahatama Gandhi Remembrance Organization at Tolstoy Farm on 2nd October as a flagship event of the Special AKAM week from 1-7 October 2021. The program at Tolstoy farm started with the Gandhian peace walk from the farm till Lawley train station and back. This was followed by meditation session and singing of Gandhiji’s favourite Bhajans. High Commissioner Shri Jaideep Sarkar garlanded the Bust of Mahatma Gandhi, planted a sapling at the farm and laid the brick for a Mahatma Gandhi museum and Library. High Commissioner also addressed  guests from Indian diaspora and local dignitaries who participated in the program".
