Shared History Festival- 11th edition
The Shared History Festival was organized in Johannesburg, South Africa from 16-26 August 2017 by High Commission of India in Pretoria and CGI, Johannesburg with the support of Teamwork Arts. This was the 11th year of celebration of this Festival. The festival continued the centuries-old narrative of historical and cultural ties between South Africa and India. Some of the best available talent in the fields of Performing & Visual arts, Music, Dance and Theatre was showcased in the festival.

The Festival aimed at opening new vistas with outstanding performances by India’s violin icon Dr. L. Subramaniam. The curtain raiser event by Dr. L. Subramaniam along with his son Ambi Subramaniam was performed on 15th August, 2017 at the High Commission of India, Pretoria. Dr. Subramaniam also performed in Johannesburg on August 16 and August 27, 2017.
The festival also included the traditional Odissi Dance Show performed by Srjan, Mahabharata theatre performance and the vocal performance of Ms. Vidya Shah, a renowned composer, musician and writer, at the Fringe, Joburg Theatre on August 22, 23 and 24rd respectively.
